It is beneficial to the faithful for each parish to celebrate the solemnities of the parish. Every Church building should celebrate these solemnities, even if there is not normally a Mass scheduled for that day of the week. Every parish should prepare the faithful for these solemnities through education, celebrations, and preferably a 40 hours devotion leading up to the date of the Solemnity.
Titular Feast: The feast of the saint of title of the church building. In the church building on the feast for which the building is named the feast must be celebrated as a solemnity. the Gloria is used, two readings, the Creed etc. If this feast day falls on another higher ranking day in the general calendar (i.e., Sundays of Advent, Christmas, Lent, Easter, Ash Wednesday, Holy Week, or days within the octave of Easter) it is to be transferred to the first available day in which it outranks whatever falls that day. Note: this is not the name of the parish, but the name of the Church. In parishes with multiple church buildings each church building celebrates the solemnity and any Mass in the other church building(s) would only celebrate the day as a feast.
Date of Dedication: If the church building has been dedicated (i.e., consecrated) this day is solemnity for that church building (see note above about other church buildings within the parish). The Mass on the anniversary of a dedication of the Church is to be prayed. If this day falls on another higher ranking day in the general calendar (i.e., Sundays of Advent, Christmas, Lent, Easter, Ash Wednesday, Holy Week, or days within the octave of Easter) it is to be transferred to the first available day in which it outranks whatever falls that day.
