Commission for Justice and Mercy

The Commission for Justice and Mercy (NEW)
This commission will bring together the broad spectrum of issues within the vision of the sanctity/dignity of the human person from conception to natural death.  This commission will have the dual function of serving as an advisory body to the Bishop and also a working body that will assist in implementation of their recommendations.  The commission will do so through Catholic Charities Diocese of Kalamazoo and the Secretariat for Parish Life and Lay Leadership.  The term of membership will be one, two, or three years and renewable.  The number of meetings per year will be determined by the commission.
 
In addition to the general qualities/characteristics listed above, those nominated to serve should:

• recognize that as instruments of God’s mercy our actions are rooted in the sanctity/dignity of the human person, which is the lens through which we view all life and justice issues.

• be committed to a comprehensive approach that encompasses human life in all its stages, forms and situations, and the ability to look at the broad picture as well as a specific issue; &
• possess the ability to temper personal passion with emphasis on seeking and advancing the decisions of the Bishop, commission, and the diocese.
